Dr. Ilyas Munshi is a neurosurgeon known for his expertise in brain, spine, and peripheral nerve surgery. He earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Illinois and later earned a doctor of medicine degree from Rush Medical College. Dr. Ilyas Munshi completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Chicago, where he was involved in medical education and research.

Since 2001, Dr. Munshi has practiced neurosurgery in Lafayette, Louisiana, focusing on minimally invasive procedures and computer-assisted, image-guided surgery. He holds privileges at multiple medical centers, including Lafayette General Medical Center and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. In 2011, he was listed among Newsweek’s 15 leaders in neurosurgery.

Dr. Munshi has made significant contributions to neurosurgical research, authoring numerous publications on topics such as brain arteriovenous malformations and Chiari malformation treatments. He remains actively involved with a number of professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. In his free time, he is an avid golfer and runner. He also participates in community activities within the local Indian community.
